Landing page SEO and GEO: a publishing and maintenance checklist

Content that brings enquiries after an ad campaign ends needs to answer questions customers keep asking. This guide turns publishing into reviewable decisions: identify the search need, check discovery and indexing conditions, and connect useful reading to a business action. The checklist is editorial guidance, not a claim that LanderGrow automatically provides search rankings.

Updated

1. Give campaign pages and search guides distinct jobs

A limited-time campaign page primarily delivers on an ad promise. An evergreen guide explains decisions, conditions and trade-offs. Link them where useful without publishing a nearly identical guide for every ad group.

For a travel business, a campaign page might collect interest in a specific itinerary. A guide could explain how to prepare a custom-trip brief, what affects the quote and what happens after submitting an enquiry. This is a planning example, not validated keyword demand or a measured customer outcome.

PageInformation to provideOutcome to observe
Campaign pageThe advertised offer, conditions and next actionReceived enquiries and qualification
Search guideA complete answer, use cases and evidenceQuery impressions, search clicks and assisted enquiries
Topic hubA useful reading order and distinctions between questionsDiscovery and accessibility of related guides

2. Verify indexing conditions before publishing

Open the final public URL and check its response, any accidental noindex directive, robots restrictions and canonical destination. Each language version should have its own substantive copy and URL instead of declaring the translated page canonical to another language.

Include public canonical URLs in the sitemap and keep lastmod consistent with real article changes. Maintain clickable links from your site. Generating a sitemap, Google reading it successfully and a page being indexed are separate events.

  • Readers can access the answer without signing in or clicking to load the main text.
  • The guide has a distinct title, description, main heading and stable URL.
  • An index, topic hub or related guide links to it with an ordinary link.
  • Dates change after substantive edits, rather than on every build.

3. Write answers readers can verify

Answer the question before explaining conditions. For example, a form click records intent, a successful server response confirms receipt, and business criteria determine qualification. Follow that answer with your actual fields, acceptance checks and failure handling.

Explain which product step and version a screenshot shows. Describe the environment, sample and limits of a test. Label illustrative examples. Link platform rules to official sources and verify product capabilities against what currently works. Visible authorship, references and honest dates help readers assess reliability; structured data should describe those visible facts.

4. Start GEO checks with public accessibility

Google AI search builds on foundational SEO: a page must be indexed and eligible for a search snippet to appear as a supporting link. Other AI platforms have their own discovery and citation mechanisms. Permitting crawling establishes access conditions; it does not guarantee a citation.

Check whether search crawlers encounter login screens, challenges or firewall blocks, then verify that the text accurately answers the question. A single manual prompt without a citation does not establish that a whole site is inaccessible. A crawler visit is not proof of a recommendation.

5. Choose weekly updates from evidence

Review pages already earning impressions and articles affected by product, pricing or policy changes. For impressions without clicks, compare the query need with the title. For clicks without enquiries, check purchase-stage questions and the contact path. For unindexed pages, read the specific reason first.

Record the page, observed problem, source for the correction, substantive update date and metric to revisit. If a review confirms that a guide remains accurate, record the review internally without refreshing the public modification date. Add a bilingual guide when a distinct, real need cannot be answered adequately on an existing page.

6. Connect discovery to useful business outcomes

Track search impressions, clicks and indexing by page, then separately track enquiries, contactable leads and qualified leads. Where analytics identifies an AI referral, report it separately. Keep missing sources unknown instead of treating every direct visit as AI traffic.

The LanderGrow website enquiry form records the originating guide path so the sales team can identify submitted enquiries from content. Conversations started directly in WhatsApp or Telegram may need manual source confirmation. Observe trends alongside the change log, and account for concurrent ad changes before attributing an outcome to an article edit.

Frequently asked questions

Does GEO require a separate website?

Start with your existing public website. Clear pages, accurate content, crawlable links and reliable sources help readers and systems that retrieve web content. Each platform still decides whether to cite a page.

Will changing dates daily increase Google indexing?

Do not refresh dates without substantive changes. Visible update dates and sitemap lastmod values should reflect actual edits. More recent dates alone do not demonstrate greater value.

Can structured data guarantee AI citations?

No. It should describe visible page content accurately. Google does not require a special AI search schema, and crawling, indexing, display and citation are not guaranteed.
